Pavel Stanev Koychev graduated from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia, majoring in Sculpture. In 1999, he participated in the exhibition "World Artists of the Millennium" at the UN headquarters in New York. In 2002, he was one of the three artists who represented Bulgaria at the International Biennale in Venice. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and projects in Bulgaria and around the world. His works are owned by the National Gallery, the Sofia City Gallery, galleries in the country and private collections in Austria, Denmark, the USA, Belgium, etc.
Pavel Koychev is a Bulgarian conceptual artist. He manages to overcome the aesthetic distance between the plastic and the conceptual, which makes him a distinctive author.
His works are easily recognizable because his plastic forms always contain a massive softness, loaded with philosophical content.
In the work "Genesis", which is made of bronze and was the main material for work in the 80s and 90s for Pavel Koychev, he presents the form as a pure spatial presence.
The form literally "opens doors" to symbolically shelter you in a timeless space.
