Mihalis Nikou Garoudis was born in Gartsiv after the outbreak of the Civil War in the country together with other refugee children was sent to Bulgaria, where in 1965 he graduated in painting at the Academy of Arts under Prof. Iliya Petrov. Winner of the 1st prize at the exhibition "Friends of the Sea" and "Sozopol and the Sea". Since 1986 he has lived and worked in Thessaloniki.
Kolyu Stefanov Getsov graduated in 1969 in sculpture and artistic processing of metals at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under Prof. Jan Nushl. He works in decorative and monumental sculpture, mosaic, fresco, decorative plastic. He is the author of decorative plastic and grilles in the park-hotel "Moscow" and the composition art in the House of Bulgarian Filmmakers in Sofia.
"Composition I" is a large-scale mosaic combined with metal sculpture. The contrast of the clean mosaic, in which the main thing is the movement and plasticity of the metal, leads to the creation of a beautiful, clean work.
The swirling of the mosaic blocks serves as a portal, in which symbolically depicted wings, representing the phoenix, stand out.
The work respects the overall context of the art in the National Palace of Culture, namely the "phoenix" and the "fire".
