Richard Flanagan in Bulgaria | Premiere of QUESTION 7 | ART SALON

On October 21 at 7:00 PM, at the literary club "Peroto," world-renowned Australian author Richard Flanagan will present his work in the first person and meet with the Bulgarian audience.

The event is part of the autumn season of the 23rd edition of the "Salon of the Arts" at the National Palace of Culture.
A recipient of the "Man Booker" prize for the novel "The Narrow Road to the Deep North," Flanagan is one of the most significant representatives of contemporary world prose!

Born in 1961 in Tasmania, he is a novelist, essayist, historian, director, and screenwriter, and his books have been published in over 40 countries and have received numerous awards.

The occasion for the meeting is the premiere of the Bulgarian edition of "Question 7" – a memoir in which Flanagan intertwines personal history, historical events, and reflections on memory, love, and the immeasurability of human life. His book won the "Baillie Gifford" prize in 2024, making him the first author to win both major British awards: for fiction and non-fiction literature.

"Question 7" starts from a seemingly small moment and gradually unfolds a chain of personal and historical events – from the love story of H.G. Wells and Rebecca West, through the nuclear physics of the 1930s, to the experiences of Flanagan's father as a forced laborer near Hiroshima. Thus, one story transforms into a reflection on how individual moments intertwine in life and history.
