The State Opera - Ruse and Zorro USA LLC present:
“Zorro” - a musical featuring Vladimir Zombori, inspired by the legendary hero, with unforgettable music by Gipsy Kings and John Cameron. A performance that will immerse you in a world where love, freedom, and courage intertwine as one.
In the Bulgarian version of the musical, the charismatic Zorro is played by Vladimir Zombori, making his debut in this genre. The young Diego de la Vega takes his destiny into his own hands and becomes a legend. From the romantic silhouette with a black mask to the mark he leaves with his sword, he is a symbol of justice, rebellion against evil, and the protection of the wronged. The mysterious hero with the black mask defends the innocent and confronts adversity with the dance of the sword and the rhythm of flamenco.
In the performance, you will hear some of the most famous songs by Gipsy Kings, such as “Bamboleo,” “Baila Me,” and “Djobi, djoba,” woven into the story of Zorro.
The director of the production is Ivaylo Nenov, and the conductor is Dimitar Kosev. The set design and costumes are by Petya Boyukova, choreography by Natalia Osipova, and the translation by Vanya Georgieva. Featuring soloists, a choir, ballet, and the orchestra of the State Opera - Ruse, conducted by Stelyana Dimitrova-Hernani.
More than 200 years ago, on the shores of California, the legend of Zorro was born. Since then, the hero has come to life in dozens of books, films, and stage adaptations – each adding a new brushstroke to his myth. Legendary actors such as Douglas Fairbanks, Alain Delon, and Antonio Banderas have portrayed him with style and charisma, proving that Zorro does not age - he is reborn. With each generation, he returns - stronger, faster, more inspiring. Because the world always needs its hero.
“Zorro” is not just a musical - it is a fiery adventure that will make you believe that heroes exist… And that justice always finds its way.
The world premiere of the performance was in 2008 in London, after which it was staged in Paris, Tel Aviv, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam, and more. In 2009, the musical received five nominations for the Laurence Olivier Award, including for Best Show and Best Choreography.
Winner of two “Crystal Lyre” awards 2025 - Audience Award and in the Operetta and Musical category.
